Gutters play an important role in every home. And, when you live in mid-Missouri, mother nature isn’t always easy on your gutters. They protect the house from the destructive force of water. Plus, they drain the water away from your foundation. However, gutters are more than just gutters. They also include soffit and fascia. Soffit and fascia are important for the breathability and security of the gutters themselves. We answer some of the most common soffit and fascia questions in our gutter FAQ section which can be found here. So how does seamless gutter replacement work? Our gutter installation experts are here to break down the process for you.
Seamless Gutter Installation
When it comes to selecting a company to install gutters on your home, making sure you’re informed is important. Understanding the seamless gutter replacement process can help ensure that no one takes advantage of you. At Expert Roofing & Exteriors it is part of our customer commitment to help make sure you are informed and able to make the best decision for you and your home. That’s why our seamless gutter experts are here to break down the gutter installation process.
Step 1: Removal and Disposal
As with any replacement job, the first step will be to remove the old gutters. Our team takes extra care to ensure that we don’t harm the structure of the home during the removal process. We also dispose of all the old gutters so you don’t have to worry about it.
Step 2: Repairs & Measurements
After the old gutters have been removed it’s a great opportunity to make sure the wood (fascia) behind the gutters is in good shape. If the wood is worn or rotten it can cause a range of issues with your gutter system. Sagging gutters are a typical result of poor wood condition. If there are any signs of damaged wood, our team will discuss the options for repair with you and make the necessary repairs before putting up the new gutters.
Once any needed repairs have been made, we begin the measuring process. Since our gutters are seamless, measurements need to be precise. For more information about the differences between seamless and traditional gutters, check out our post by clicking here.
Step 3: Making the Gutters
One of the main benefits of seamless gutters is that they are seamless. Seamless gutters are most commonly made on site after the measurements have been taken by the installers. Crews usually use a roll-forming machine that is inside of a trailer to form the gutter. Then, the gutter is cut at the exact measurements required to fit your home. Lastly, end caps are secured to the gutters to create a water-tight seal.
Step 4: Installing the Gutters
Once the gutters are cut to size, it’s time to start the installation process. Your new gutters (whether they are traditional or seamless) will be connected to the fascia board. They should be secured with high quality galvanized screws and internal fasteners designed to hold up to whether exposure.
Another important part of the installation process is efficient water flow. For example, our installers precisely measure the pitch to ensure that water will flow correctly through the gutter to the downspout. Once the gutter has been installed it is time to hook up the downspouts.
Downspouts are just as important as the gutters themselves because they allow the water to flow away from the foundation of the home. Once the downspouts have been installed the gutter installation process has been completed.
